Paris Hilton is single again, fellas.

A source close to Hilton told People.com that the socialite and her Good Charlotte rocker boyfriend, Benji Madden, are dunzo.

"She is saddened by the breakup but they're just too different and they wanted different things in life," the source told the magazine. "He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break."

News of the break-up is not surprising, considering that Hilton, 27, was spotted talking and dancing with ex-boyfriend and Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos in Miami over the weekend, though friends of Hilton claim nothing happened between the exes.

And as recently as October, Madden, 29, told People,"I wear my feelings on my sleeve. I'm very open about how in love I am – Paris and I are very happy."

But perhaps their relationship wasn't as peachy as they had us think. A source close to Hilton told Usmagazine.com, "Benji was overprotective and controlling. He doesn't get along with any of her friends. Friends thought Paris had changed since being with Benji and she wants to be herself again."

My, how quickly things can change. Paris and Benji locked lips in February, and are splitskies by November. Let's hope this doesn't make hanging out with Richie and the other Madden awkward. And another Hollywood romance bites the dust.
